Current Models Out of Production |
Nimble Boat Owner's AssociationWelcome to the Nimble Boat Owner's Association, the place for past, present, and potential Nimble boat owners to share news, ideas, and advice. The Nimble Boat Owners Association is a completely voluntary and non-profit social group. Currently, there is no cost to become a member. This Web site is a work in progress that is intended to serve as a central meeting place and community for all Nimble boat owners. This Web site covers all boats built by the Nimble Boat Works, including out-of-production models, and is independent of the Nimble Boat Works. More information and history will be added as it is uncovered. Every effort has been made to provide accurate information about every boat, however, mistakes happen. If you discover an error, please send mail to the Nimble Boat Owner's Association. The Nimble Boat Works was founded in 1985 by Jerry Koch. Jerry worked with Ted Brewer on the design of the Nimble 20, which became the basis for all of the later boats. All of Nimbles boats were built to order and no two boats are identical. Teds Nimble 20 design was lengthened to create the Nimble 24, which later became the Arctic motorsailer, and was then modified to become the Nomad motor boat. The Nimble 20 was shortened to build the Vagabond motor boat. The Arctic was modified with a larger pilot house to become the Kodiak. The only new Ted Brewer design in the Nimble fleet was the Wanderer, which was designed as a roomy, but economical, motor boat or a 50/50 motor sailer. The Nimble Boat Works briefly ceased operations when Jerry passed away in 2003. A consortium of investors led by Ken McCleave, however, rescued the company and have continued Jerrys legacy. Today, the Nimble Boat Works produces three boats: the Nimble Nomad, Wanderer, and Kodiak. You can visit the Nimble Boat Forum at BoatUS.com, the Nimble Boat Forum at Delphi.com, or the Nimble Boat Forum at TrailerSailor.com, where you can post messages for other Nimble owners, or share your experiences aboard your boat. Please remember to list your boat on the Nimble Owners Registry. We would like to thank the following companies and individuals whose contributions of Nimble boat information have helped to make this Web site possible: Ken McCleave and the Nimble Boat Works, Good Old Boat Magazine, Cruising World Magazine, Mark Nye, Nancy Everds, and the Nimble owners who have submitted their photos and who have added their boat to the registry. © 2008 Nimble Boat Owners Association.
